Yummly site and app - amazing recipe inspiration!

If you're ever stuck for where to look for recipes, want a really specific meal or even if you really want something with (or even without) a certain ingredient, Yummly is definitely the place for you. It's really everything you could ask for - the only way they could improve it, would be if Yummly actually made the food themselves!

So you start by creating an account, which is actually optional, but there are loads of benefits to creating accounts, such as saving your preferences and savings recipes (which I'll get on to later). But it's super quick and easy to sign up and it's free too, and most of you will have a Facebook or Google account and with the click of one button can sign in using that almost instantly.

THEN you can search for a recipe or ingredient and scroll through the thousands of search results taken from all over the web! Not only does this mean that you don't have to search through all of these sites yourself, but it means you can look at and compare the different types of the recipe you're looking for and compare the ingredients and preparation time, etc!

Once you've found recipes that you like, you click the 'Yum' button and it will be saved into 'My Yums' for you to go back to later. The other great thing about saving Yums, is that it then generates a wonderful list of recommended recipes for you which is brilliant. I much prefer scrolling through my recommended recipes for inspiration than looking through Facebook any day. It's surprisingly accurate too - I very rarely see a recommended recipe that I don't like the look of, but they instead show me so many wonderful recipes that I wish I had all of the time in the world to make!

Finally, and my favourite aspect of Yummly is the personalisation options, which, when you have an account are all saved, so you'll never see recipes that don't apply to you. I select the 'pescetarian option' which is really great because normally I have to spend ages scrolling through meat recipes to find one that I'll eat. As well as this you can avoid certain ingredients or even look for recipes that do include your favourite ingredients. This is a truly wonderful feature because for example, if you're looking through cake recipes but have nut allergies, you can avoid nuts entirely and not have to scroll through recipes for e.g almond cake. This can also come in handy if for example you know that you're low on iron and think that a broccoli recipe would be good for you. Similarly, if you have some ingredients left in your fridge that you need to use up, select them all and see if you can find a recipe to use up all of your remaining ingredients. And if that's not enough? If you only have 20 minutes to snap something up, but you also want it low in calories? There are calorie and time filters too - how incredibly helpful? There are other filters too such as cuisine and tastes, but you need to check this out yourself!

So I love this site, as well as the app which is super slick and dynamic and easy to use! It has everything you need and more and I'm just totally addicted to scrolling through the recipes for cooking and baking inspiration! 10/10 for Yummly!
